Wealth Planning Analyst

The Wealth Planning Analyst's primary responsibilities are to execute the technical and administrative tasks that keep the client service team running. Chief among these is financial analysis—executed under the direction of senior colleagues—that feeds into the preparation of client financial plans.

About Griffin Black

Griffin Black is an independent, fee-only Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm that has served high-achieving professionals since 2005. We design bespoke, data-driven financial strategies built around the whole pattern of our clients’ lives, not just their portfolios.

About this role

The Wealth Planning Analyst’s primary responsibilities are to execute the technical and administrative tasks that keep the client service team running. Chief among these is financial analysis—executed under the direction of senior colleagues—that feeds into the preparation of client financial plans.

The Wealth Planning Analyst also plays an important role in ensuring the service team delivers a consistent, positive client experience and fulfills all of its commitments in a timely manner. They operate in a supporting role by design: this is a firm that values deep technical specialization, and this role is built for someone who finds real satisfaction in being the expert behind the work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Performing specialized analyses on topics like cash flow, retirement, tax, insurance, estate, and investment strategy.
  • Assembling and formatting client slide presentations, including charts and other visuals.
  • Conveying meeting follow-up communication and notes to clients (with the help of AI and other tools).
  • Handling exception cases of client appointment scheduling.
  • Reaching out to clients to ensure the service team has the critical financial and background information it needs to perform fact-based analysis and modeling.
  • Keeping our database of client information up to date.
  • Coaching clients in following through on their agreed actions, and providing hands-on assistance when external services are hard to use or otherwise problematic.
  • Ensuring that client documents are accurately and consistently archived in our document repository.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write clear English.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Desire to take initiative and proactively solve problems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and anticipate problems effectively
  • Genuine satisfaction taken in technical depth: you’d rather get the analysis exactly right than be in the room when it’s delivered.
  • Clear communication about complex findings to the advisors you support.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in financial services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accounting, finance, or personal financial planning program.
  • Personable and positive personality.
  • Prior completion of CFP® Certification courses.

  • Facility with and understanding of broadly used financial planning tools, e.g., eMoney, Holistiplan, IncomeLab, etc.
  • Experience with investments, financial planning, tax, or insurance industries.
  • Experience working with custodial platforms (Pershing, Altruist, Schwab, etc.).
  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) platform.
  • Knowledge of broker-dealer and investment advisory regulations.
  • Interest in financial services as a career path.

What we offer

  • $65,000 – $90,000 annual salary, based on education and relevant experience. Candidates with a CFP® Certification or comparable alternative or experience receive a 20% premium to their base salary, above the stated range.
  • Quarterly bonus based on company revenue.
  • 401(k) (pre-tax and Roth) with an automatic 3% employer-paid contribution.
  • Company paid choice of PPO or HMO Plans (PPO Silver tier); option to add family members at the employee’s cost.
